Pool Table Restoration & Timber Refurbishment

Enquire today about your pool table repairs

We have a comprehensive range of pool table repairs and maintenance including long-term servicing contracts, across Queensland and northern NSW.

Over time, your pool table or snooker table can show signs of ageing or wear and tear, such as small nicks, fading and peeling. When it comes to a pool table restoration project, you can trust Billiard Shop to return your beloved table to its former glory.

We love that an increasing number of billiard tables are being passed down from one generation to the next, many made from beautiful timber such as cedar or walnut. It’s important that these family heirlooms are given some long-overdue TLC and we enjoy assisting in this regard.

Pool table restoration essentially gives an old table a facelift and a fresh lease of life. The work involved typically includes stripping back the old finish, lightly sanding back the bare timber to remove any dings or scratches, then respraying with gloss or semi-gloss stain. We can even change the colour of the timber finish, to better match your décor, during the process.

Should I repair or invest in a new Pool Table?

When it comes to requests for pool table replacement pockets, typically it’s the result of holes in the nylon nets from general wear and tear over time, damage to empire rail pockets caused during DIY table moves, or deterioration in the leather over the top of the bracket, which protects the balls from hitting metal, such as flaking or peeling.

Nets can also pull away if not attached properly and if they’re white they also commonly discolour over time, turning yellow or brown as a result of beer spillages or build-up of hand sweat, making them aesthetically unpleasing. Many customers are now swapping to the more modern black netting as a result.

Combining Pool Table Restoration & Timber Refurbishment With Other Repairs

Whether the timber refurbishment is undertaken as a standalone project or as part of a full table pool table renovation, including reclothing, pocket replacement, rubber cushion replacement or other repairs, Billiard Shop can work within your budget and requirements.

We’ve worked on many tables that are 50, 60 or 70 years old and the oldest pool table refurb handled to date by Billiard Shop was a table about 110-years-old, which came from a property out the back of Glenmorgan between Toowoomba and St George.

In addition to the Western Downs, our pool table refurbishment and restoration services are available throughout South East Queensland – including Brisbane, Ipswich, the Darling Downs, the Southern Downs, the Scenic Rim, the Gold Coast, Logan, the Sunshine Coast, Noosa, Gympie and the Fraser Coast – as well as northern NSW, Central Queensland (handled by our team in Mackay) and North Queensland (handled by our team in Townsville).

Cushions

Worn cushions can negatively impact the way your pool table plays. If the rubber perishes, whether it goes hard and cracks or becomes soft and doughy, the quality of bounce will be affected – both in terms of the distance the ball travels and the angle it rebounds off the cushion.

As part of general pool table maintenance and repair program, pool table cushion replacement is recommended after years of use to ensure optimum playability and avoid major frustration – especially for serious players. If you find your billiard table cushions are sagging, have lost their bounce or are showing signs of general wear and tear, don’t let it ruin you game play!
